Singapore Airlines has partnered Scent by SIX, a Singapore artisanal perfume label, to design SIA’s signature scent. Batik Flora by Singapore Airlines will provide a unique sensory experience to our customers, leaving them with something to reminisce about their journey when they fly with SIA.

The scent includes floral notes from six flowers in SIA’s batik motif: Aquatic Ginger, Common Dianella, Seashore Purslane, Simpoh Lak, Utania Nervosa, and White Kopsia.

Batik Flora by Singapore Airlines will be progressively introduced at key customer-facing SIA locations from October 2021, starting with the SIA Service Centre at ION Orchard. Customers will also be able to enjoy this signature scent at SIA’s redeveloped SilverKris Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, when it reopens. Batik Flora by Singapore Airlines will be produced in the forms of reed diffusers, pillow mists, and an eau de toilette fragrance, and will be available for sale exclusively on KrisShop.com from October 2021.

This is a dream come true, for me and the folks at Scent by SIX.

Mr Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President Customer Experience, Singapore Airlines, said: “As travel gradually resumes, our customers from around the world can enjoy even more uniquely Singaporean experiences when they fly with Singapore Airlines. As Singapore’s national carrier, we are also proud to work closely with and support several of the country’s leading brands to showcase the best of Singapore to our customers. This is part of our goal to collaborate with a diverse range of partners in Singapore and globally, and deliver a personalised, contextual and meaningful engagement to our customers.”

Here’s how it all began:

I can still remember vividly. It was 2 Sep 2016, at the MAAD Pop Up market at the Red Dot Design Museum Singapore.

With just three SKUs, I did the first pop-up for Scent by SIX on a 1.2m x 1.2m table. To be honest, it was a quite a challenge to decorate the table back then so it doesn’t look too empty.

The first perfume I sold was 1724 PUKA (a scent inspired by Boracay) and I can still remember that it was a very friendly Filipino gentleman who bought and supported me. The event ran from 5pm to 12mn, I was anxious, tired but so so fulfilled, especially when there were so many kind-hearted Singaporeans whom, the moment they heard that I am Singaporean and that we are a home-grown brand, they bought their favourite scent right there and then.

Our first few years were not easy, everything was just “one man show”. There were naysayers, people out there putting you down. At that point, I had my first child and backing out was not an option. I told myself that I “die die “got to make it. Along the way I set a goal for myself, I told myself that one day I have to curate a signature scent for the Singapore Airlines.

The New Batik Motif

5 years on. We did it. “Batik Flora” is born. And I am blessed to have done this together with every single one at Scent by SIX. This achievement is all yours. I look around me and I don’t see employee #1, #2 etc. I see solid, good, hardworking people with good hearts. I am grateful to call you family.

Thank you, Singapore Airlines, for taking us on board.

SIA New Sonic Signature

You are the greatest way to fly indeed and we will make it a scent-sational one.

We are proud to showcase the best of Singapore to the world.
